ABOUT THE SESSION

The traditional framework of a lighting design concept is expanding to include lighting content. More than a mere change in lexicon, “lighting content” indicates an evolving design practice in response to advancing technology. Just as media moved from print to online, lighting’s intersection with technology and content will carry lighting practice into a new era in which complex lighting systems and building technologies create dynamic, responsive, integrated, and personalized environments/experiences.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Develop a rich vocabulary connected with ideas that bridge lighting design composition and relevant technology.
  • Provide a framework for lighting specifiers to develop their designs in a more holistic and effective manner with the entirety of the design team.
  • Educate the audience on design strategies through bulleted examples of how they can support the design concepts and integrated technology concurrently.
  • Assist audience in better understanding the practical connections between the lighting design, building technology, and occupants or users of the building.
